Hospital Dentist Q&A: Part 1

Hospital Dentist Q&A: Part 1

What is a Hospital Dentist & More on House/Night Calls

Beyond handling general dentistry work and providing dental specialties, Mount Alvernia Dental Centre is involved in Hospital Dental responsibilities that include house and night calls (yes, we do that too!).

As a Hospital Dentist clinic, we are equipped with specialisations and experience that are required to fulfil such duties. It could be as simple as helping a patient with basic dental care when difficulty arises, solving complex cases that revolve around surgery and trauma or working with medically-compromised patients both in the clinic or hospital. As such, Dr Anthony Goh has been heavily involved in aiding Mount Alvernia Hospital with dental consultations and procedures whenever necessary.

Night calls mostly involve emergency cases that the hospital require a Hospital Dentist to give insights for and perform treatments from a dental standpoint. On the other hand, house calls mostly cater to special care patients who are unable to physically visit the clinic. At Mount A Dental Centre, we provide house call services to meet you where you are. Alternatively, a wheelchair lift is available to better serve medically-compromised patients within our own clinic. Please feel free to contact us if you are in need of this service via the clinic’s main hotline.

Being a Hospital Dentist is never easy, but it’s extremely rewarding to serve patients to the best of our abilities. Each patient is unique and can come with complex backgrounds, thus there’s no cookie-cutter recipe to treat patients. A hospital dentist must be trained in two or three dental specialty (oral surgery is a must-have skill) with vast experience to be able to take on this responsibility. More than just technicalities, there is a human element to dentistry that goes past the textbook. We believe in extending compassion to everyone that we work with and providing them with care and comfort throughout the journey.
