Introduction

Hello, I am Dr Ng Poh Leng aka Dr Marcia or simply 'the hospice dentist'.

I started volunteering in Assisi Hospice in 2009. The initial years were particularly trying for the patients as they had to be sent to my clinics in either Bishan or Hougang as the hospice lacks dental facility. It was extremely challenging especially for inpatients.

It was divine Providence when Dr Anthony Goh offered use of his clinic in 2013. Since then Thursday mornings were dedicated to screening of patients in Assisi or treating them at Dr Goh’s Mt Alvernia clinic.

I believe it is God’s divine stirring within me to serve the poor and displaced palliative patients (and at times, their caregivers) of Assisi. My focus is not only to re-establish oral function through denture work, fillings & extractions but to relieve pain & discomfort. In essence to return dignity to each patient on their journey in the final phase of life...
